Error Recovery Mechanisms Based on Retransmissions for Video Coded with Motion Compensation Techniques
نویسنده
چکیده
Error recovery mechanisms based on retransmission (ERMBR) have often been left out from the interactive video transport process because they are considered as producers of additional latency in frame playout time; that is only partially true. ERMBR introduce additional latency if the service constraints are rigid (such as those considered by Connection Oriented (CO) services) but if the constraints are reduced, the additional latency can be greatly reduced. These aspects have inspired the Partial Order and partial reliability Connection (POC) concept employed in this work. A POC connection provides a configurable service authorized to involve both a number of losses and a degree of mis-order. In this document, the ERMBR mechanisms forming a POC service are successfully used in the context of Video Coded with Motion Compensation Prediction Techniques (VCMCPT) in order to provide both a suitable error recovering and continuous service. These advantages are illustrated through an implementation of a video server system formed by a POC service and an ad-hoc MPEG decoder.

Error concealment techniques for digital TV
Compressed video bitstreams are intended for real-time transmission over communication networks. Most of the video coding standards employ the temporal and spatial prediction structure to reduce the transmitted video data. Therefore, the coded video bitstreams are highly sensitive to information loss and channel errors. Even a single bit error can lead to disastrous quality degradation in both ...
متن کاملAn Improved Motion Vector Estimation Approach for Video Error Concealment Based on the Video Scene Analysis
In order to enhance the accuracy of the motion vector (MV) estimation and also reduce the error propagation issue during the estimation, in this paper, a new adaptive error concealment (EC) approach is proposed based on the information extracted from the video scene. In this regard, the motion information of the video scene around the degraded MB is first analyzed to estimate the motion type of...
متن کاملHybrid Fractal/dct Coding of Video
In this paper we introduce two techniques that can be used together to improve video coding performance. Firstly, block matching motion estimation with spatial transformation (BMST) is used to increase motion compression eeciency, and then motion compensated prediction (MCP) errors are encoded using a hybrid Fractal/DCT scheme. MCP error blocks are classiied according to their energy content an...
متن کاملOptimized transmission of H.26L/JVT coded video over packet-lossy networks
Transmission of hybrid coded video including motion compensation and spatial prediction over error-prone channels results in the well-known problem of spatio-temporal error propagation at the decoder. A widely accepted standard-compliant technique to enhance the quality of the decoded video significantly is the more frequent introduction of intra-coded macroblocks. However, intra-coded informat...
متن کاملWavelet video compression using region based motion estimation and compensation
We present wavelet based video compression algorithms. The motion estimation and compensation, which is an essential part in the compression, is based on segment movements. The proposed based codec sequentially employs the following steps: We first divide each frame in the sequence into blocks resulted from the block matching algorithm. The, we appply Hough transform, in order to group it into ...
